Filmfare Awards Host - Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan
Only days ago we reported that host with the most Shah Rukh Khan would be hosting the upcoming Filmfare Awards only to now report that he has been replaced. In the past, the Filmfare Awards have been a podium for SRK and buddy Saif Ali Khan to poke fun at the fraternity. They made their audiences laugh until their stomachs hurt and as a duo, they were a hit. As usual, SRK was scheduled to compere and grace this year’s occasion, but due to a recent shoulder operation the award ceremony had been pushed back a few days.
However, it seems that SRK has been shooed aside and this year the fraternity will be treated to a new twosome in the form of Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan who will be hosting the award ceremony. It will be one to watch as Kapoor is known for being quite the “brat” and Imran, the shy-guy. Sources claim that Kapoor and Khan are in the midst of rehearsing a hilarious script which is definitely going to keep audiences in splits.
In fact, Farhan Akhtar and Karan Johar too will be a part of their act only adding to the humor factor.
We’re more than sure that young and happening heart throbs Ranbir and Imran will do a fine job of hosting the ceremony. Move over Shah Rukh and Saif! It seems like the younger kids of the clan are soon going to take over…stage and all!
The Filmfare Awards will be held on February 28th.

Today is a red letter day in Trisha’s life as her biggest icon AR Rahman has won two Oscars
Today is a red letter day in Trisha’s life as her biggest icon AR Rahman has won two Oscars. Talking about Rahman, the actress is all smiles and speaks from the location of her Telugu film in Hyderabad.
Trisha told Sify.com: “I am not just another fan, but a crazy fan of Rahman. You won’t believe that sitting alone in my hotel room in Hyderabad, I was watching the Oscars from early morning and I started screaming, jumping and shouting when Rahman won the Oscar, that the hotel staff came and told me that I had to bring down the TV volume as guests were sleeping in adjecent rooms. It was truly embarrassing though I didn’t really care”.
Trisha has been a Rahman fan since school and confesses that it was partly due to him that she entered films and when Enakku 20 Unakku 18 offer came her way, she blindly signed on the dotted line as Rahman was the music director.
She also had the privilege of working in Mani Ratnam’s Ayitha Ezhuthu (Yuva in Hindi ) with Rahman’s music. And who can forget her beach song Hey Goodbye Nanba… or that hot disco number Yaakai Thiri….
And now her next film Gautham Menon’s Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya will have music by AR Rahman and she is all excited about it. Gushes Trisha: “ I have never been so emotional in my life and it was such an ecstatic moment when Rahman won the Oscars. I don’t think that I’ll be so happy, even if something like this happens in my life. I have made Gautham promise me that he will give me a seat next to his for the audio launch of Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya”.
Nayanthara next project with tollywood hero Ravi Teja
Nayanthara is a busy bee shuttling between Kerala, Chennai and Hyderabad. She is doing three films simultaneously in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu.
The latest rumour doing the rounds in Tollywood is that, after a dull 2008 she is keen to sign more Telugu films. The actress has agreed to do a film opposite Ravi Teja, her hero of Dubai Seenu.
We contacted Nayan who is shooting in Kerala: “ I have not formally signed on the dotted line but have agreed in principle to do the film. I am happy to do this Boyapati Sreenu film”. The film will be produced by Ganesh Babu.
Music composer A R Rahman has said that he identifies himself with Slumdog Millionaire’s hero
Music composer A R Rahman has said that he identifies himself with Slumdog Millionaire’s hero – the 18-year-old slum boy who overcomes hardships by winning a fortune on Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Rahman, who has been nominated in the Oscars for the songs, O Saya and Jai Ho, had to overcome numerous hurdles in his journey from hometown Chennai (formerly Madras) in south India to the Academy Awards.
But insists he takes life positively.
"I can relate to the film because I take life positively and feel that even after great depression something good will come out," CBS News quoted him as saying.
The 43-year-old Oscar nominee began to support his family at age 11 after the death of her musician father, as a keyboard player in south Indian film composer Ilaiyaraaja's ensemble.
Before joining the south Indian film composer, Rahman’s mother used to earn livelihood by renting out her husband's musical equipment. He later formed a rock band and toured with prominent Indian musicians like tabla maestro Zakir Hussain.
He hopes that an Oscar win will make Western audiences more aware of contemporary Indian film music.
"We have a different philosophy of approaching film music and I would say there's lots to give which I always wanted to happen," said Rahman.
"We've been great fans of films of the West and we respect them so much and we also have certain qualities," he added.
Rahman’s stint in the Western World started off when Andrew Lloyd Webber asked him to write the songs for the 2002 London musical Bombay Dreams.
After the success of Slumdog he is flooded with offers from Hollywood but says that he has no intention of abandoning Bollywood.
"Both of them complement each other beautifully because I'm learning stuff from here and then giving it there and taking stuff from there and giving it here," Rahman said.
"India is going through this huge change in the whole vision of film making and I want to be a part of that change," he added.

Arya and Trisha in Kollywood film Sarvam – Yuvan’s special treat for Vishnu
Sarvam – Yuvan’s special treat for Vishnu
‘Trio strikes back’ wouldn’t be apt as often cliched every media channel would comment the same. Precisely, it isn’t the same score you heard for ‘Arindhum Ariyamalum’, ‘Pattiyal’ and ‘Billa’. All the songs are catchy and sure on screens as you know Nirav’s pitching cinematography is sure to work wonders. Yuvan’s stupendous touch is sure in all Vishnuvardhan’s piece for he considers him as his ‘Special Buddy’.
Sarvam has 6 special numbers and Cinesnacks brings you first music review for all the numbers…
1. Adada Vaada
Singers:Ilayaraja, Yuvan Shankar Raja
Genre:Rock-Hip Hop
Ever imagined about heeding to an unique tune of Ilayaraja’s voice with the rhythmic style of 50 Cents. Here’s the one. ‘Adada Vaada’ has it all starting with Yuvan’s humming at interlude followed by Maestro’s rich voice. The flute note is replicated from the famous pop tune that’s used as polyphonic ringtone in many mobiles. It’s a sure chartbuster
2. Neethanae
Singers: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Genre:Romance-Pop
The rhythm doesn’t get you mesmerized. It would be better if Yuvan can stop imitating A.R. Rahman on the same intonations. It may click on the screens.
3. Sutta Suriyanae
Singers:Vijay Yesudas
Genre:Folk-Beat
The first line of this song seems to be the yesteryear tune of Ilayaraja and rendered byYesudas.Vijay Yesudas’ voice dominates the instrumentations.
4. Kaatru Kullae
Singer:Yuvan Shankar Raja
Genre:Melody
Water drop programmed as rhythm is a commendable factor. But again, Yuvan is imitating Rahman’s way. It would have been better if Karthik had crooned for this piece. But, it’s a nice song about the young lad’s pathos about missing his girl.
5. Siragugal
Singer: Madhushree, Javed Ali
Genre:Melody
A poignant melody with good singers on the lead. The melodious tune is sure to turn one of the best top-charting songs of this year.
6. Theme Music
Genre:Romance-Thriller
Extraordinary, Yuvan has the knack of spelling the best when it comes to theme music. The first part is carried through with Ceylon-rap song while it suddenly transcends into the other mood of spine-chilling thriller (more or less the same as ‘Billa’ signature tune)
As a whole, Sarvam has good tunes that will keep us entertained for sometime as there aren’t any melodies to heed over and over. Keep listening to the songs and it’s worth doing so.

Shreya have five kollywood film releases in 2009
Shriya is on cloud nine. Understandably so, among all heroines in Kollywood, she will have five releases in 2009. And now she is on a signing spree.
The latest is that she has signed Metro Film's untitled two heroine film with Arya as hero and directed by Manikandan. The other heroine in this romantic film is Preethi Rao younger sister of Amrita Rao.
Last year, Shriya did not have a single release in Tamil, except a special appearance with Vadivel in Indralogathil Na Azhgappan , which not only bombed but also made her persona non grata with big heroes.
And after burning her fingers in Bollywood and Hollywood Shriya is now concentrating on Kollywood. She has Kanthasamy with Vikram in May, followed by Jaggubhai with Sarath Kumar in June.
Then she has Thorannai with Vishal and Kutty where she is paired opposite Dhanush. And the big buzz is that she is trying to get into Ajit's Asal and replace Sameera Reddy!
