All those people who loved Lara Dutta’s bikini stint in ‘Blue’

For all those people who loved Lara Dutta’s bikini stint in ‘Blue’, here’s some good news. She will be getting into a bikini once again for Sajid Khan’s ‘Housefull’.

She has defended her move saying that she doesn’t get into a bikini just because she likes to. She couldn’t have done underwater scenes in a burqa in ‘Blue’ and ‘Housefull’ has a water sequence for which the bikini is required again.

She has worked hard on her physique for the bikini sequences and is glad that people have appreciated it.

When told that her films were all sinking at the box office, she states that she ended up taking decisions not by thinking about them logically but based on whim.

She is now looking forward to ‘Housefull’, which she enjoyed working for with her favorite actors Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani.

Just one film old in Bollywood and Asin Thottumkal has had more than her share of controversies. The miffed actress, who is a superstar down south, wonders why "people are targeting" her.

"Please tell me why people are targeting me? I don't know why everybody is trying to give me a hard time. I am a newcomer, what have I done (in Bollywood)?" asked an exasperated Asin. "I am clueless why people are just interested in creating stories which are not true about me. I haven't figured that out," she added.

"Apparently a lot of rubbish has been written about me and most of my interviews are wasted clarifying those," said Asin.

The 23-year-old made her Bollywood debut opposite Aamir Khan in the hit psychological action thriller Ghajini last year and became an overnight sensation.

She has, however, been caught up in a string of rumours - a recent one being that the actress refused a role in Farah Khan's next directorial venture, Happy New Year, opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

"It was just a fabricated story. The publication retracted it in the very next issue and came out with an apology the very next day. Farah and I are friends. I am really very fond of her as she is of me. That's about it. We haven't talked about working together in a movie at all," Asin said, slamming the gossip.

"It was just a figment of somebody's imagination. Farah has just started working on the script. Obviously, she hasn't reached casting stage," she added.

The other controversy involves Asin and her London Dreams co-star Salman Khan. The first rumour that appeared was that she was at loggerheads with Salman's girlfriend Katrina Kaif. It was reported that Katrina got upset when she heard that her beau was helping Asin find a house in Mumbai.

"I don't even know Katrina, for god's sake! I have worked with Salman in one film and my relationship with him has been friendly, professional. Nothing more or less than that," she asserted. "I don't know why people link actors who work together!"

Then came news that her father allegedly had a disliking for Salman. "What rubbish? They get along like a house on fire and are very buddy buddy with each other. They gang up against me and pull my leg.

In fact, I am the odd one out when they are together. They are such good friends that despite his busy schedule, Salman painted a portrait of my dad, signed it and gifted it to him. That's the rapport they share. I really don't know where these stories are coming from," she said.

And what about her seasoned co-stars reportedly insisting that she asked her father not to accompany her on the sets of her movies? "It's not that my father's forever hanging around on the sets.

For one of the foreign schedules, he did accompany me, but that was about it. I don't know why people tend to make out this whole big hullabaloo about bringing my dad. It's completely fabricated nonsense," she said.

"Poor thing, he is sitting at home, minding his own business. I don't know why he has to be dragged into controversies. It is quite annoying when somebody writes about your parents. Please leave my father out of all this.

"I am the only person in the limelight. If anybody wants to write anything true or false, write about me. But don't drag my parents into it. It's really not appreciated," she said.

Releasing October 30, London Dreams has been produced and directed by Vipul Shah and also stars Ajay Devgn.

Asin's next project is Ashutosh Gowariker's Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey with Abhishek Bachchan.

She splashed into the choppy waters of Kollywood with her oomph. Slowly but surely, the Gujarati girl from Surat carved a niche for herself in Tamil cinema. Now Namitha is awaiting the release of Jaganmohini, a bilingual film in Tamil and Telugu.

"I play a girl who gathers pearls and falls in love with the prince," said Namitha. "But his family does not accept her and she is killed. Later she comes back as a ghost to stop his marriage to another princess".

The two beauty Miss Universe queens Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta are work together again

The two beauty Miss Universe queens Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta are work together again

The two beauty queens became Miss Universe and later joined Bollywood. Now when they come together for a film, rumours of rivalry are bound to do the rounds. But Lara Dutta, who stars along with Sushmita Sen in comedy Do Knot Distrurb, says they got along well and would love to work together again.

"Sushmita is a lovely person and we never had any problem working with each other. This (rumour) is generated for publicity, but there is normally very little truth behind the talk that we didn't get along," said Lara.

"Our country has only two Miss Universes and if they also start fighting...it couldn't get sadder than that. I just wish I had more screen time to share with her, as we had not worked together earlier and it was a fantastic opportunity," she said.

Rumour mills were abuzz that the two actresses were having a cold war due to Lara's meaty part in the film directed by David Dhawan.

Lara hoped she would get a chance to work again with Sushmita, who was crowned Miss Universe in 1994. "I hope people will cast us again at some other time. At least David (Dhawan) should do it again," said Lara, who was crowned Miss Universe in 2000.

Co-produced by Big pictures and Vashu Bhagnani, Do Knot Disturb is a laugh riot on marriage and infidelity. Releasing October 2, the movie also stars Govinda, Riteish Deshmukh, Sohail Khan, Ranvir Shorey and Rajpal Yadav.

Throwing light on her character, Lara said: "I play Dolly who is sort of a pin-up girl for men. But her own life is very complicated as she loves a man who is her sugar daddy.

"She wants security too; so she has an ex-boyfriend who truly loves her and at the same time she also has an unsuspecting soul who enters her life and turns into her best friend. So it's complicated for her to decide what is it that she actually wants in life among security, love, compatibility and her best friend. That ties a knot in her life, which she has to unravel."

Comedy is Lara's forte as she showed her funny side in Masti, No Entry, Bhagam Bhag and Partner.

"I love doing comedies. There's been an image of Miss Universe tagged to me and normally people associate me with being more cerebral and more poise because of the crown.

"But what people don't know is that I am very comic in real life too. Doing comedies just gives me an excuse to be who I am. And if people think it's great acting, it works for me," she said.

Do Knot Distrurb is also Lara's third film with Govinda after Bhagam Bhaag and Partner.

"I am very lucky to have got this film because if at all I consider myself to be a comic actress, then working with Govinda at least once is necessary. But I have had the opportunity to work with him for the third time and our fourth film (Banda Yeh Bindaas hai) is also ready," she said.

"He is a fantastic actor and and I got an opportunity to grow as a comic actor with him. He is one of those actors who can make people cry with his laughter and at the same time make them laugh with his crying," she added.

With other future projects like Blue, Housefull and Tom & Jerry in her kitty, Lara is on a high with the way her career is shaping up. "I am very happy. It's a good time and good place where I am right now," she said.
